Today, I was about to throw
away a used-up legal pad. I decided to scan it for anything of importance, and
I came across some notes my daughter scribbled in it. She’d made one sheet for
me and one sheet for her dad, and at the top she’d written “Work Ethics.”
Looking back, I recalled it was a last minute, late night homework assignment. She
had to ask her parents for their work ethics and determine what her personal
work ethics would be.
I remembered filling my
answers in, but I never saw what my husband wrote on his list. After seeing his list, I can see why he’s a
pastor! We spend so much time in life
working, so I thought it might be worth sharing. If you put both lists together, you’re bound
to be a success at your job!
Lori’s List: Matt’s List:
-be on time -lead
others
-be a team-player -love people
-take initiative -care for
those in need
-give it 100%- DO MY BEST -do everything to the best of my ability
-dress professionally -stand
up for what I believe in
-have a positive attitude
Here’s one of my life
verses—it’s a great “mindset” to have whether you’re working on important
things or very dull, monotonous tasks:
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human
masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the
Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23, 24
What are your work ethics? Whatever
they might be, we can all agree there's nothing "easy" about doing
your job well. But God never promised us an easy life, He just promised
that He would help us through all the tests and trials of life. It's not
a mystery, but it does happen by faith: Christ lives in us. . . let me say that again, Christ Lives In Us!, empowering
everything we do with His grace.
I really like this. I like both of your lists but Identify more with yours. Espeially the Team Player ethic. I believe that is one of my strongest strengths.
